The Rondo Heat Battery
The Rondo Heat Battery (RHB) is engineered to tackle heat at any industrial site, serving as a drop-in replacement for your fossil-fuel boiler. It captures the lowest-cost electricity, operates with the highest efficiency and safety, and delivers the lowest-cost heat. The RHB provides seamless integration, ease of operability and has one of the tightest footprints in the industry. Configurable in size, a single unit can be sized to rated outputs from 2MWth to over 100MWth.

Solutions
Heat Only
- Steam: RHBs can deliver dispatchable steam that matches existing infrastructure for drop-in installation.
- Thermal oil: RHBs can also be configured to heat up thermal oil, or other fluid.
- Air: RHBs can directly heat air, or a variety of other gas streams, to replace fossil fuels.
Combined Heat & Power
- Steam turbine integration: For customers needing lower-pressure process steam (e.g., <20 bar), RHBs can be configured to produce high-pressure steam (e.g., 100 bar) and drive a non-condensing steam turbine, delivering exhaust steam precisely at industrial specifications (e.g., 20 bar). This enables high-efficiency on-site power generation while delivering heat at spec.
- Clean CoGen with high efficiency: The combined RHB + steam turbine system turns low-cost intermittent electricity into baseload combined heat and electricity, at 95% energy efficiency, with c. 4:1 ratio of heat:electricity delivery, case dependent.
The Rondo Heat Battery is available through two purchasing options
Capital Purchase or Lease
Customers can purchase the Rondo Heat Battery for use, either as a capital purchase or lease. The lease enables no upfront capital for the customer. With these models the customer will then procure electricity to charge the heat battery; Rondo can help connect the customer with electricity providers with ‘RHB charging’ products.
Heat Purchase Agreement
Rondo offers the option to simply buy heat (typically steam). The customer pays no upfront capital, does not handle the charging of the heat battery, and simply pays for heat (steam) delivered. We work with the customer to determine the best structure – either fixed price of heat ($/MWh) or at a guaranteed (X%) discount to gas-based heat.
