Renewable & Low-Carbon Fuels: Ethanol
Fuel production from low-carbon feedstocks is energy intensive yet producers have limited options to lower carbon intensity to generate premium products and avoid carbon costs. Natural gas use is typically the largest portion of life cycle CO2 emissions. Direct electrification with renewables is a viable option but can only meet a small portion of total energy loads when the wind is blowing or sun is shining.

We help low-carbon fuel producers electrify heat in order to cut energy costs and lower the carbon-intensity of their fuel.
Without any process or feedstock changes, biofuels produced using Rondo heat and power double your CO2 savings per gallon.

Key Benefits
Easy Integration
RHBs are designed to integrate seamlessly into both existing and new facilities, This RHB was installed and commissioned without causing a single hour of facility downtime.
Lowest-Carbon Heat
The RHB can slash low-carbon fuel CI in half. Combined with DAC/CCUS, this can result in zero-carbon ethanol
Lowest-Cost Heat
The RHB is delivering heat to Calgren on a Heat-as-a-Service (HaaS) basis, supplying energy at a cost per MMBtu lower than gas-fired heat. Rondo’s HaaS enables industrial producers to enjoy low and predictable energy costs without upfront capital.
Designed for your facility
Industry Challenges
Ethanol producers use natural gas to generate steam for the conversion of starches into fuel.
This natural gas use is the largest single portion of ethanol’s life cycle CO2 emissions. An estimated 90 percent of energy used by ethanol producers is in the form of heat.
